Our Objectives
We work with our members and regional partners to:

Secure funding for regional grants that individual members may not have the ability to secure on their own;

Effectively and equitably allocate funding for ambitious climate action and resilience projects;

Establish more effective collaboration mechanisms to align policies and projects to best address our region’s most pressing climate equity challenges; and
-
Activate working groups to support deeper coordination amongst RCPWG members and non-member agencies, foundations, and nonprofits to advance specific project priorities.

To collaborate among groups and organizations in the Monterey Bay Area region, including Santa Cruz, San Benito, and Monterey Counties, to develop, prioritize, secure funding for, effectively and equitably advocate for, and implement regionally beneficial climate mitigation and adaptation projects and programs
Our Governance Structure
RCPWG formed in 2023 under an interim Charter, which outlines the governance structure. The RCPWG has a Chair and Vice Chair leadership model and makes decisions using the consent model. The charter was most recently updated and adopted in April 2025 to reflect a change in the fiscal sponsor and membership types. RCPWG’s Governance Options Report (September 2023) provides additional background on the formation of RCPWG, options previously explored for longer-term governance, and examples of how other climate collaboratives are structured.
As part of the Monterey Bay Adaptation Roadmap project, RCPWG is exploring longer-term governance and funding structures.
RCPWG Recommendations for Advancing Equitable Decision-making for Climate Investments
This report is an outcome of a series of 2024 workshops that RCPWG facilitated with local community-based organizations to better understand how to best integrate community-based organizations into the decision-making process for RCPWG activities. The findings from this report will help to inform RCPWG’s long-term governance structure.
